Raised to rule, bred to lead and weaned on a diet of ruthless ambition. In a world of haves and have nots, my family has it all, and I want nothing to do with it.
My path takes me far from home and paints me as the black sheep. At odds with my father, I’m determined to build my own empire. I have rules, but Lennix Hunter is the exception to every one of them. From the moment we meet, something sparks between us. But my family stole from hers and my father is the man she hates most. I lied to have her, and would do anything to keep her. Though she tries to hate me, too, the inexorable pull between us will not be denied.
And neither will I.
This book was AMAZING. Kennedy Ryan is one of the best romance authors ever. The way she pulls you into a story and keeps you captivated the whole time is why she is such a great writer. From the first time we meet Lennix I fell in love with her character. She is strong willed, smart, and brave. She embodies the social injustice towards Native American women. She still struggles with the loss of her mother because her mother went missing when she was kid. I love her passion for her people and how her self- love towards herself.
Maxim is a possessive alpha hero who is fiercely loyal to the ones he loves.
Maxim is trying to get out from under his fathers wing and do his own thing. He is very involved in the environment and making changes in the world. His father is the CEO of a big oil company which goes against all of his morals. He can't decide if his morals go above having a relationship with his father.
They first meet at a rally for a pipeline that is being built on sacred Native American land. They meet again four year later. And again 10 years later. Their love spans decades which I loved and I thought that made the story even more special. I loved the political aspect of the story and how it brought both of them together again. The Kingmaker is a must read! Go pick it up now, you won't regret it. This book also leaves off on a cliffhanger.
