Ten years ago, college student Quincy Carpenter went on vacation with five friends and came back alone, the only survivor of a horror movie–scale massacre. In an instant, she became a member of a club no one wants to belong to—a group of similar survivors known in the press as the Final Girls. Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who went up against the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape Pine Cottage and the man she refers to only as Him. The three girls are all attempting to put their nightmares behind them, and, with that, one another. Despite the media's attempts, they never meet.

Now, Quincy is doing well—maybe even great, thanks to her Xanax prescription. She has a caring almost-fiancĂ©, Jeff; a popular baking blog; a beautiful apartment; and a therapeutic presence in Coop, the police officer who saved her life all those years ago. Her memory won’t even allow her to recall the events of that night; the past is in the past.

That is, until Lisa, the first Final Girl, is found dead in her bathtub, wrists slit, and Sam, the second, appears on Quincy's doorstep. Blowing through Quincy's life like a whirlwind, Sam seems intent on making Quincy relive the past, with increasingly dire consequences, all of which makes Quincy question why Sam is really seeking her out. And when new details about Lisa's death come to light, Quincy's life becomes a race against time as she tries to unravel Sam's truths from her lies, evade the police and hungry reporters, and, most crucially, remember what really happened at Pine Cottage, before what was started ten years ago is finished.

Wow. This book was amazing. I loved the slow burn feel of this thriller and how we got little snip bits of what was to come. This story follows Quincy who has survived the slaughter of her friends being killed in front of her while she was staying at a cabin in the woods. She was the last one to survive. She doesn't remember anything from what happened, only who did it and about an hour of what happened. After people learned of what happened to her,  she was welcomed to the club of the final girls. The finals girl is a label used on women who have been the last survivor in a murder and they are the last survivor. At the time there was three. Lisa, Samantha, and Quincy.
Flash forward to present day and Quincy is informed that Lisa, one of the final girls is dead. She doesn't know why or who did it to her. She struggles with that a lot. The next day a girl comes to her house and claims that she is Samantha the other final girl. They strike up a bond through what they have both gone through. But Quincy starts to question Sam's motives and why she came to her in the first place because things aren't adding up with what she's saying. This story has a ton of twist and turns.
I LOVED this book. I'm not a huge thriller reader but I do want to find more thrillers to read. The only other thriller I have read was No Exit by Taylor Adams which I also really enjoyed. If you like thrillers you should definitely go check this one out. It felt as though things weren't really progressing in the story but actually they were. Its hard to explain other than the book is amazing. Please go pick it up if you like thrillers/murder mystery stories!
